Ukraine, the British 007: so Putin wants to draw Belarus into the war

Belarus led by Aleksandr Lukashenko is Russia’s most loyal ally, Vladimir Putin, and his role in the anti-NATO mode in the war in Ukraine. The British Ministry of Defense has released its daily intelligence report on the conflict and today the focus is on Belarus. According to analysts in London, indeed, the military exercises taking place with the Russian ally are “probably part of the routine training cycle of the Belarusian army”, but “nevertheless, Russia is almost certainly eager to promote the Belarusian forces in combat -NATO Mode”.

In recent days, Poland has sent additional troops to the border with Belarus, partly to help its border guard force deal with the flows of migrants that Belarus allows to pass into the EU and partly to counter what is perceived as a threat, namely the arrival of Wagner’s mercenary forces in the neighboring state. In fact, Poland intends to deploy 10,000 troops to the border with Belarus, according to the Defense Minister, Mariusz Błaszczak. “About 10,000 troops will be on the border, of which 4,000 will directly support the border guard and 6,000 in reserve,” he said in a radio interview. “We will bring the army closer to the border with Belarus to scare the aggressor so that he does not dare to attack us,” added the Polish minister. Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Wąsik previously announced the deployment of 2,000 troops to the border with Belarus. Poland last week accused Minsk of violating its airspace by flying over some helicopters.
