Father of children who survived plane crash accused of abuse

The man, who actively participated in the research and stirred the world with the story of the last hours of his wife’s life, is accused of abusing two children. It is the ultimate embarrassment, according to Manuel Ranoque, the father and stepfather of four indigenous brothers who escaped a plane crash in Colombia and were found in June after spending 40 days in the Amazon jungle.

The man was arrested on charges of molesting a 14-year-old minor and another youth, according to the Caquetá prosecutor’s office. The arrest of Manuel Ranoque was confirmed by the prosecution, but the charges were not disclosed.

The man is the father of the youngest two children, aged one and four, and the stepfather of the other two, aged 9 and 13. According to media reports, the boys made statements two weeks ago that led to Ranoque’s arrest. The Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF), which detained the children after their stories, allegedly forbade the man from approaching or contacting them. The ICBF also assured that the children are in good health and that it is cooperating with the prosecution office in the hope that the integrity of the four minors will continue to be protected.
