Russia is probably raising another army in the occupied regions of southern Ukraine to conduct defensive operations on this part of the front. British intelligence suggests as much in its daily Twitter report. «Russia is expanding its military facilities in line with its current needs. The emergence of a new formation is very likely: the 18th Combined Arms Army”, explains the Ministry of Defense in London.
According to British intelligence, this “formation will be the result of the unification and strengthening of other units currently operating in the Kherson region, in particular the 22nd Army Corps which normally forms part of the Russian garrison in occupied Crimea”. According to British intelligence, the new army may consist mainly of deployed personnel and will focus on defensive operations in southern Ukraine. “Russia probably wants to release more experienced units to conduct combat operations in key directions,” British experts conclude.
