According to Ukrainian media, an attack by drones from Ukraine on targets in the Russian Federation took place at night, and partly confirmed by the Russian side. A fire broke out at Pskov airport.
On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the Ukrainian side launched an attack on Pskov airport, 700 km from Ukraine. As usual in such situations, drones are used for this.
Attack on Pskov airport
Four IL-76 military transport aircraft were reportedly damaged in the attack. This information was provided by the “independent” Russian portal Meduza. Reports of the attack were also confirmed by military sources on Telegram, as well as the Russian Ministry of National Defense.
According to reports from local residents, explosions and shots from automatic weapons were heard in the attack area. According to various sources, 10 to 20 drones should hit the object, and the Russians tried to shoot them down with small arms.
The US news agency Reuters reported that videos published by the Russian media show thick black smoke rising from the airport in Pskov. In turn, the Russian media reported that two aircraft were damaged, the Ukrainian portal ZN reports.
The region’s governor, Mikhail Vedernikov, said he had been there since the attacks began. According to preliminary information, no one was injured and the extent of the damage is currently being assessed by the relevant services.
The Meduza portal claims that according to preliminary data, four Il-76 military transport aircraft were damaged in the attack on the airport.
It is known that the 334th military transport regiment is stationed at Pskov airport, which has these machines in stock.
According to preliminary information, one of the drones crashed into the tank complex at the airport, causing a major fire. Looks like the fuel tank caught fire there. The fire has already been extinguished.
Drones also in other cities of Russia
At the same time, the Ukrainian portal ZN reported that combat drones were also being sent to a number of other targets in cities in central Russia. The microelectronics factory in Bryansk and the military airport in Tula were added to the list.
The ZN portal added that Russian Telegram channels reported that authorities should close the airspace at Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports in Moscow. The airspace above eight circuits was also closed.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the drone strike on Bryansk.
Let us not forget that as part of the war that started with it, the Russian side regularly attacks numerous Ukrainian cities, including using drones, and the targets of attacks are not only military facilities and critical infrastructure, but also residential buildings. After some time, the Ukrainians began to attack targets in Russia with drones.
There have been many such reactions from Kiev, including at least a few related to the Russian capital. For example, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on July 30 that it had shot down three Ukrainian drones attempting a “terrorist attack” on Moscow.
