Two people were killed and six others injured in a shooting at a wedding in Ottawa. Guests said they hid in the kitchens of a convention center to escape a gunman. Ottawa police said they had not yet arrested the suspect but rushed to the scene near the airport after gunfire.
The people involved were attending a wedding at a convention center on Gibford Drive, and the shooting occurred outside the premises. Paramedics said they were rushing the injured, including two men with fatal gunshot wounds, to hospital after several people were shot in the parking lot outside the reception area. “This is an ongoing investigation, all aspects of the investigation are being investigated,” the police said.
The victims were identified by the police as Said Mohamed Ali, 26, and Abdishakur Abdi-Dahir, 29, both originally from Toronto. Investigators are looking for “surveillance footage, doorbells or dash cams of residents, tourists and businesses that may have been in the area at the time of the incidents”.
