Al Qaisi case moves from the Italian embassy in Tel Aviv: “Maximum attention should be paid to the matter, it is in good condition”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian embassy in Tel Aviv are watching with “great attention” the story of the return arrest of the young Italian-Palestinian researcher, who was arrested by Israeli police at the Allenby border crossing between the West Bank and Jordan on 31 August. On vacation in Bethlehem with his wife and 4-year-old son.

The young man’s name is Khaled Al Qaisi, he was visited by embassy staff yesterday, 7 September. According to the information ANSA obtained from diplomatic sources, it seems that the person is “in custody awaiting trial” and is in good health. Also, according to diplomatic sources, embassy staff continue to “provide maximum assistance” and maintain relations with the child’s family.

Al Qaisi appeared before the judges of the Rishon Lezion court near Tel Aviv yesterday. At the end of the trial, the court would order another week of detention for him; therefore he had to stay in his cell until the next 14 September.

He is assisted by Ahmed Khalifa, an Israeli Arab lawyer contacted by the Manifesto, and said he could not disclose “any details of the ongoing trial at the orders of the judges”.
