Houston Rockets’ NBA star American basketball player Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested on charges of attacking his girlfriend and attempting to strangle her. The two were staying at the Millennium Hotel in New York and the woman held him out of the room, according to a police report. However, Houston Rockets guard Porter managed to enter the room with the help of hotel security and then attacked him.
“On arrival officers were told that a 26-year-old woman had suffered a cut to the right side of her face and was complaining of neck pain,” a police spokesman said. “In the first investigation at the scene, it was determined that a person whose identity was known repeatedly hit the woman’s body and wrapped his hands around her neck.”
The woman, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. The Rockets released a statement to ESPN following the arrest. “We are gathering information regarding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr.,” the statement said. “We have no further comment at this time.”
