Russian forces concentrated more than 10,000 people in Bakhmut, also mobilizing tank regiments, motorized rifles and landing gear. This was reported by Illia Yevlash, head of the press service of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the United News marathon, reports Ukrinform. “As for Bakhmut, the enemy has concentrated considerable forces there – more than 10 thousand people. Heavy battles are ongoing,” he said. Yevlash noted that there are no signs that the enemy plans to leave the city. According to him, the Russians also maintain regiments of tanks, motorized rifles and landing gear at the site. He added that, in general, fierce fighting is ongoing in the east of the country. The situation is tense, but controlled by the Ukrainian defenders.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has vowed that the United States will not abandon Ukraine despite the deal’s elimination of aid to avoid a government shutdown, urging Republicans to “stop playing games” over funding. “I want to assure our allies, the American people and the Ukrainian people that they can count on our support. We will not abandon them,” Biden said in a speech at the White House.
