Acquitted for shooting YouTuber: “He was looking for reactions to his videos”

31-year-old Alan Colie was acquitted of shooting and wounding YouTuber Tanner Cook, who runs the “Classified Goons” channel, in a shopping mall in the USA. The incident occurred in early 2023 at a food court in downtown Dulles, 45 minutes from Washington. According to the jury, the deliveryman acted in self-defense.

Colie’s lawyer said his client felt threatened and that the tall 21-year-old YouTuber engineered the confrontation to provoke a reaction and attract viewers to his YouTube channel. Cook, of course, did not expect such a reaction from Colie. The lawyer said the YouTuber was “trying to confuse people by posting videos. He is not worried about scaring people. However, according to his lawyer, this conviction is against the law, considering the acquittal on the grounds of self-defense. That’s why he asked the judge to vacate the conviction, but he will have to wait for a hearing next month before knowing whether Colie will be free.
