Putin is about to make an important decision. Will this be announced in November?

According to the Russian press, Vladimir Putin could announce next month whether he will participate in the 2024 presidential elections.

As Kommersant reports, citing sources close to the presidential administration, Putin could announce his decision in early November during the opening of the exhibition and forum ‘Russia’.

The event will last from November 4, 2023 to April 12, 2024, meaning it will overlap in time with the presidential campaign. The exhibition aims to showcase the main achievements of the Russian Federation in various economic sectors. It will be the first event of this type after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

According to the scenario developed in the Kremlin, Putin could publicly announce his candidacy at an exhibition next month. Kommersant’s interlocutor states that this is one of the options that will be presented to the president, but that the final choice will be made by Putin himself.

70-year-old Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has ruled Russia continuously since 2000. He is currently in his fourth presidential term. He previously served as Prime Minister twice (in 1999-2000 and 2008-2012).

Putin may rule Russia until 2036

In 2021, Putin signed a law allowing him to run for two more terms. So he may remain in power until 2036 – almost as long as Robert Mugabe, who ruled Zimbabwe for 38 years.

A few months ago, the Kremlin began preparing for the 2024 presidential elections, in which Putin would like to win more votes than in previous elections. According to RBK sources, governors have been instructed to provide 70 percent. turnout and 75 percent voting for the main candidate.

In the 2018 elections, the Central Election Commission recorded 76.69 percent. votes cast for Putin with a turnout of 67.54%.

According to unofficial reports, next year’s campaign will be built around the so-called ideology of conservatism. According to the presidential administration’s plan, Putin will be presented as a “guardian of traditional values” before the elections. Moreover, Kremlin ideologues plan to rely on rhetoric about Russia’s “moral superiority” over other countries.
