Ukrainian special forces have landed in Crimea. ‘Unfortunately there are also losses’

Ukraine’s military intelligence reported that Ukrainian special forces had landed in occupied Crimea and attacked the Russians. Both sides suffered losses.

The recording released by the Ukrainian Intelligence Service (HUR) shows special units landing on the beach at night in a boat, where they unfolded the Ukrainian flag.

– The operation involved a battle with Russian troops, who suffered significant losses. Unfortunately, there are also losses among the Ukrainian armed forces, although not on such a scale as on the Russian side, said Andriy Yusov, spokesman for the HUR. He added that “the special operation aimed at the liberation of Crimea continues.”

It has not been revealed when and where exactly the Ukrainian special forces operation took place.

The number of Ukrainian attacks on Crimea is increasing

In recent weeks, Ukrainian forces have intensified attacks on Crimea, including two Russian S-400 anti-aircraft systems, which weakened the air defenses of the Russian-occupied peninsula.

On September 22, a Ukrainian missile attack hit the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol. According to British military intelligence, the attack on the Sevmorzavod shipyard led to the destruction of the landing ship “Minsk” and serious damage to the submarine “Rostov-on-Don”, which at that time was being repaired in dry dock.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in August that “Crimea will be liberated, as will all other parts of Ukraine that are unfortunately currently occupied.”

Preserving the annexed peninsula is one of the main conditions that Russia sets for Ukraine before possible peace negotiations that would lead to a ceasefire.

Putin will not give in

Russia occupied Crimea in 2014. An illegal ‘referendum’ was held in the presence of the military, and it was subsequently announced that the peninsula had become part of the Russian Federation. According to Moscow, 97 percent of Crimean residents and 95 percent of Sevastopol voted in favor of joining Russia.

Russian propaganda has been repeating for years that the inhabitants of the peninsula voted for democratic unification with Russia, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue is “finally closed”.
