Among the targets hit by Hamas in its attack on Israel is an electronic music festival in the desert. Local media reported this.
The “Nature party” held near Kibbutz Urim in the south of the country was attacked by dozens of Palestinian militants. Most of the hundreds of young people managed to escape or be evacuated by Israeli forces during the event, which started on Friday and continued until the early hours of the morning, but there are fears of loss of life.
Eyewitness accounts and videos on media and social media show participants trying to flee to safety, with security forces later escorting some to a base in the south. “We heard gunshots and immediately started running away,” one of those present told the Times of Israel. Another participant described a mass escape to cars as rockets flew overhead and the first Hamas militants stormed the desert.
Speaking to The Times of Israel, 20-year-old Noya Reuven described the mass panic that ensued as rockets were fired into the air and thousands of partygoers ran towards their vehicles. While She was in her vehicle just above a large open field, she said she heard gunshots from the crowd and saw hundreds of panicked people running in all directions.
In an interview with Canale 12, a girl said that about five gunmen shot at her car, destroying it, as she tried to leave the party. Some media outlets mention at least one victim and dozens of injured participants.
