A young man who was traveling in a wheelchair is shot dead in San Roque

While riding in his wheelchair along a street in the San Roque neighborhood, on Saturday afternoon, October 7, a young man identified as Gabriel de Jesús Cano Romero, 23 years old, was shot dead.

According to information from the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police, the events occurred around 4:05 in the afternoon and took place at 35th Street and 33rd Street, near the General Hospital.

Cano Romero, who was accompanied by a person pushing the chair, reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the head, causing immediate death.

The companion ran away, according to residents of the sector, leaving the fatal victim at the scene of the attack. Meanwhile, people who were at the scene, when they heard the explosion, came out of the houses to try to help the man, but when they noticed that he was not responding to the calls, they stopped touching him.

The police, for their part, confirmed the arrest of a 15-year-old minor, who was found in his possession with a revolver-type firearm, caliber 38, with a percussion cartridge. Both were at the disposal of the Public Prosecution Service.

This teenager, according to reports from residents of the area, would have been the one who fired the firearm at the humanity of Gabriel Cano Romero.

So far, the motives for this bloody incident are unknown. Experts from Sijín were responsible for carrying out the research.
