A drama that overlaps with the drama of an entire nation. This is the story of Gaya Calderon, a 21-year-old Israeli who lost all contact with her family following an attack by Hamas forces on Kibbutz Nir Oz near the Gaza Strip. Unfortunately, it is a place that has become a symbol of the blind violence of terrorists who do not hesitate to massacre women, men and children. Gaya was in Tel Aviv when the attack started. The girl experienced the kidnapping of her 12-year-old brother Erez, perhaps the only survivor of the massacre, in a series of messages that spread in real time on social media. However, Gaya says she does not know where her sister, father, grandmother and cousin went. They were never actually found. They were on the kibbutz at the time of the attack and it is feared they were massacred by terrorists.
His “special day” begins with a phone call from a friend who warns him of a terrorist attack. The girl immediately tried to contact her family to get more information.
There was silence on one side, then a message came: Family members stated that they could not answer and that they had to remain silent. Then the message from her sister Sàar, who is only 16 years old: “I’m so scared, Gaya, I want to cry.” Then immediately a second letter: “Gaya, I’m at home, don’t write anymore.” And finally, the warning made by phone from a mother living in another house on the same kibbutz: “I heard gunshots, I’m afraid this is the end.” The mother and her 18-year-old brother also managed to survive by barricading themselves inside the house. He doesn’t hear from the rest of the family, but the message his 16-year-old sister receives in a shared family chat unfortunately doesn’t bode well. To cover her tracks, Paarima had written a simple “Mom, I love you”, which unfortunately felt like her last message before facing torture.
“I stay at home and cry desperately all day, and I know maybe I shouldn’t say this, but it reminds me of the Holocaust,” Gaya said. He still hopes to be able to hug his little brother and the rest of the family again.
