Hamas, the background of the site that puts Russia at stake: “The servers…”

While Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemns US President Joe Biden’s words, saying it is “unacceptable” to try to “draw a parallel between Hamas and President Putin”, it is learned that the Hamas website uses Russian servers to publish its content online. This is what emerges from an in-depth investigation conducted by Open, which, based on the analysis of the domain ‘Hamas.ps’, was able to demonstrate how the organization keeps its website active despite being recognized as a terrorist and, therefore, on everyone’s blacklist Western domains.

“The official website of the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas is currently not accessible in Italy. Could it be a problem due to excessive access? A cyber attack?”: With these questions as a prerequisite, Open’s investigation began. “We verified, based on the analysis of the Hamas.ps domain. This was legally registered in 2011 with the Palestinian National Internet Names Authority (PNINA), obtaining a series of completely public information that takes us to another country in the world: Russia”, revealed the newspaper.

All servers on the Hamas website “point to the Russian domain ‘selectel.rù – we read – we try to identify which IP the domain is redirected to by performing a simple ping and also in this case it is a Russian IP”. The IP would be owned by the company VDSINA-AS Hosting technology Ltd, based near Moscow. The apps Viewdns.info and Whois.domaintools.com also helped confirm “that the Hamas.ps domain points to that specific Russian IP address.”
