Russia has reportedly begun recruiting women to send to war in Ukraine. The information was revealed by the Important Stories portal, which defines itself as one of the few sources of independent investigative journalism in Russia: according to journalists, female snipers and drone operators are being recruited into a mercenary unit under the command of the Ministry of Defense. In the article entitled «Created not only for the kitchen and for children» it is stated that women are offered a six-month contract with a monthly salary of 220 thousand rubles, around 2,300 euros, with a bonus, in case of injury in the field, between one and 3 million rubles and in case of death, for the heirs, 5 million.
The recruitment “ad” aimed at women appeared on the Russian social network Vkontakte. One of the recruiters told stories that they are looking for women who already have training in the use of weapons, while those who do not will undergo a month of training. Losses in Ukraine are daily and Vladimir Putin and his men have therefore decided to resort to all possible resources.
