Middle East, General Mini rejects Macron’s idea: no to the international coalition

Military experts don’t like Emmanuel Macron’s idea. General Fabio Mini, former commander of the KFOR mission in Kosovo, spoke to Adnkronos about the possibility of forming an international coalition in an anti-Hamas way, as has happened in the past to combat ISIS: «There are already too many actors and if we also created a mission that does not aim to suspend the fire, to pacify the area but to go and fight one of the belligerents, a situation similar to the one that exists in Ukraine would arise again.”

The former commander of operations led by NATO within the scope of the KFOR mission describes the situation in the Middle East after the outbreak of the new war between Hamas and Israel: «Any international intervention must be coordinated and authorized by the parties in conflict. An intervention for a ceasefire is complicated – the general emphasizes – even if it would now be convenient for the Israelis themselves and the Palestinians themselves, given that both are now at a dead end and the only result is that one annihilates the other. And this cannot be allowed. External interference that does not have the consent of all actors involved would only lead to a worsening of the situation.”
