Massacre in Maine. At least 22 people died in a shooting that occurred at a bowling alley, the Grille and Sparetime Recreation, and a bar, the Schemengees Bar, in the city of Lewiston, USA. The two facilities are located approximately 4 miles apart. According to what was reported by the police, dozens of people were injured (around 50-60), while the alleged perpetrator of the shooting was identified. This is Robert Card, a weapons instructor in the US Army Reserve and recently admitted to a mental health facility.
“Law enforcement is attempting to locate Robert Card 04/04/1983, as the suspect in tonight’s mass shooting at Schemengees Bar and Sparetime Recreation. The card should be considered armed and dangerous. Please contact the police if you know his whereabouts”, is the police message. US President Joe Biden spoke on the phone with Maine Governor Janet Mills and members of the state’s Congress, offering “full federal support in the wake of this horrific attack.”
Melinda Small, owner of Legends Sports Bar and Grill, said her staff immediately closed the doors and removed all 25 customers and employees from the entrance after a customer reported hearing about the shooting at the bowling alley, less than a quarter mile from away, around 7pm. “Honestly, I’m in shock. I’m glad my team responded quickly and that everyone is safe,” Small told the Associated Press. The hunt for the man, who fled in a car later found abandoned, continues with hundreds of police officers.
