Middle East, US maxi-missile shield: how to avoid escalation

Intimidated by attacks by Hamas militias supported and encouraged by Iran – with the Al Qassam Brigades who tried (unsuccessfully and with several deaths) to infiltrate Israel by sea – the US is taking action. Joe Biden and American intelligence decided to reinforce the shield against the missile alliance, as reported by Il Corriere della Sera, also to avoid any possibility of a ground attack that would find Israel unprepared. An intriguing backstory told by the Wall Street Journal is that the Saudis, who feared this could involve their territory as well, also contributed to the containment action that neutralized the Hamas “frogmen” maritime offensive: an unexpected move from Riyadh. Everything was expected, except aid to the Jewish State, which was always contested and unrecognized.

In any case, as predicted, the United States has built an observation and combat network made up of sites housing radars calibrated to track and intercept the missile threat. Firstly, we start from Mount Keren (in the Israeli Negev) and then move on to Turkey (Kurecic) and Qatar (al Udeid). Installations have increased with new stations in Saudi Arabia (Prince Sultan), Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, the Emirates (al Dhafra), Bahrain and, needless to say, Israel, which has had its own Iron Dome security system since 2011. All countries, the newspaper reports, that for various reasons are concerned about the actions of the ayatollahs, as well as the factions that receive weapons from the Islamic Republic, from Lebanon to Iraq.

The United States is significantly intensifying its military effort. A symptom of how the Israeli-Palestinian war is at a crucial stage. Biden sent new equipment to the Jewish State and pre-warned about 2,000 American soldiers, ready to be deployed in support of these devices. As if that weren’t enough, around 2,500 marines belong to the Bataan amphibious group, currently south of the Suez Canal. The more the conflict escalates and changes sides, the more international involvement becomes incessant. And the United States is always on the front line alongside Israel.
