Representatives of Hamas are visiting Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed.
A Hamas delegation is currently visiting Moscow, Zakharova admitted. The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman did not reveal details about the visit. According to media reports, one of the people scheduled to appear in Moscow was senior Hamas member Abu Marzook.
In reporting these messages, the Russian state news agency RIA quoted the source of the Palestinian delegation.
In addition, Zakharova said that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Baghiri Kani is also in Moscow. The politician is in talks with Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
War with Hamas
Tel Aviv announced the destruction of Hamas after the terrorists attacked a number of Israeli settlements on October 7. They killed about 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and took hostages. The Qassam Brigades (the armed branch of Hamas) simultaneously fired rockets into Israeli territory.
Israeli forces have been carrying out unprecedented shelling on the Gaza Strip for more than two weeks. The local Ministry of Health reported on Thursday that the number of deaths exceeded 6,500 (including more than 2,700 children) and 17,000 injured.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the continuation of the war and the destruction of Hamas. On Thursday he confirmed that the IDF was preparing a ground invasion.
A day earlier, The Times of Israel, citing military sources in the Israeli army, wrote that Tel Aviv could cancel the ground operation in the Gaza Strip if Hamas continues to release the hostages.
The West supports Israel
Washington expressed its full support for Israel. A few days ago, Joe Biden met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv. The US president announced an “unprecedented aid package”, but at the same time warned Israel against “an excessive and hasty response to the attacks”.
On Sunday, political leaders from six Western countries released a joint statement saying they support Israel, which has the right to defend itself. They also called on Tel Aviv to respect international humanitarian law and protect the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
