Maine Governor Janet Mills confirmed that 18 people were killed and another 13 injured on Thursday in the double shooting the day before in Lewiston, the second largest city in that state.

The Department of Justice has confirmed that agents from the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Marshals Service are assisting local authorities in the investigation and search for the suspect and providing assistance to the victims.
