Israel recalls diplomats from Turkey. This is a response to Erdogan’s words

The authorities in Jerusalem have withdrawn all their diplomats from Turkey. This is a response to Recep Erdogan’s words that Israel is an occupier of Palestinian territories.

Israel reacted sharply to Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s words during a rally in support of Palestine in Istanbul.

Jerusalem called on all its diplomats to review relations with Turkey. On the evening of October 28, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced this on the social networking site X.

“Given the serious statements from Turkey, I have ordered the recall of diplomatic representatives from there to reassess relations between Israel and Turkey,” he wrote.

What Erdogan said

On Saturday, during a rally at Istanbul airport, the Turkish leader threatened the world with a religious war and said the “massacre” in the Gaza Strip was the work of the West. He said Israel was behaving like a “war criminal” in the Gaza Strip and appealed to the Israeli government not to offend the feelings of the Turkish people. Erdogan recalled that Gaza was once part of Turkish territory.

–Do you want a war between the cross and the crescent? – he asked, turning to the Western leaders.

The Turkish president also called Israel a “pawn” in the region and indicated that Turkey could “attack” the West at night to avenge the massacre of children in Gaza.

A new phase of the war

On Saturday, Israel’s Defense Minister announced that the conflict in the Gaza Strip had entered the “next phase”.

– We have moved on to the next phase of the war. The ground shook in the Gaza Strip last night. We attacked above ground and underground… The instructions for the army are clear. The campaign will continue until further notice, the minister said.

Underground facilities are a major target of Israeli attacks. According to the Gaza Strip Ministry of Health, the death toll among Palestinians rose to more than 7,700 on Saturday. Since Friday evening, October 27, 377 deaths have been registered alone. According to the ministry, most of the dead were women and minors.

Israel says its attacks target Hamas fighters and infrastructure, and that militants operate among civilians, endangering them.
