Two yellow weather warnings were issued in Wales as the Met Office named the latest storm to hit the UK. Storm Ciaran will bring a period of strong winds and heavy rain to parts of southern England and Wales on Thursday.

The Met Office has warned that a series of severe weather warnings will be issued on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, before a deep area of ​​low pressure called Storm Ciaran brings strong winds and torrential rain to parts of southern England and the Midlands. Welsh.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to continue across Wales this evening, with rainfall of between 40 and 50mm in the wettest locations. The weather warning says heavy rain and storms will affect areas of Wales including Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Powys and Swansea.

Commuters were told to expect disruptions to buses and trains, spray on roads, flooding and some power outages. The warning is in effect from midnight on Sunday until 9am on Monday.

Meanwhile, a second weather warning for wind was issued in Wales later in the week. The warning, which is in effect between 00:00 and 18:00 on Thursday, warns that “very strong and potentially damaging winds associated with Storm Ciaran are possible”. The wind warning covers the following areas:

A storm is brewing over the Atlantic and forecasters predict an area of ​​low pressure will spread across the UK during the week. As well as strong thunderstorms, other parts of Britain are likely to experience heavy rain.

The BBC’s Louise Lear said: “The start of November is likely to be very busy. A low pressure area arrives on Wednesday, Thursday is worrying – it could be a very deep low pressure area, with thunderstorms and strong winds. “Sometimes there is a storm, so we have to keep an eye on it.”



The Met Office has issued a weather warning for parts of south and west-central Wales due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The forecast for Wales on Sunday suggested a drier start for many, with rain mainly in the west. The rain continues in the south and west, sometimes heavy, in other places it is clear or sunnier. It will be very windy, especially along the coast, a storm is possible.

Further heavy rain will occur this afternoon and overnight, especially in the west, sometimes confusing with a risk of hail. There will still be wind on the coast, although it will ease at dawn.

Monday will be sunny, with frequent heavy and possibly blustery rain. Winds will generally be weaker, although strong during heavy rain with near-average temperatures.

The rest of the week will see clearer spells with some showers before becoming increasingly unsettled with further outbreaks of rain, sometimes heavy, and strong or gale-force winds, especially on Thursday.
