21-year-old girl was killed in the school toilet: Who is the man who escaped?

The lifeless body of 21-year-old Lilie James was found in the bathroom of a school gym in Sydney, Australia, on October 25. The mystery surrounding the death of the girl, who was the water polo coach of the private institute team in the Australian city, prompted the police to launch an investigation. Investigators have no doubt: the 21-year-old was probably killed with a hammer.

The agents focus their attention on the school’s hockey coach, 24-year-old Paul Thijssen. The images taken from the security cameras that cleared the authorities’ various doubts. In the videos, we see that the hockey coach also enters the bathroom immediately after the young woman enters the bathroom. Thijssen, who also called the authorities, then left the toilet alone. Although police have not commented on a possible motive, Australian newspapers report that the relationship between the two was recently terminated by the 21-year-old.

The man has disappeared since James was murdered. Police launched a massive manhunt, focusing on the murder scene where the murder weapon was allegedly found. On October 27, police also found a body pulled from the rough waters of Vaucluse. The autopsy will reveal whether the wanted man is the 24-year-old man. Investigations are still ongoing.

Local people are saddened by the loss of the young girl. A fundraiser was also launched last weekend to help the family cover funeral expenses. James became the 41st Australian woman to become a victim of gender-based violence this year, according to the Counting Dead Women project. The country last year implemented a 10-year plan to strengthen crime prevention, improve police and justice responses, create more emergency shelters and provide psychological empowerment for victim survivors.
