There are reports of flooding in parts of Wales on Monday, with warnings of further heavy rain. A yellow weather warning was in place for south and west Wales on Sunday and until Monday, with further weather warnings in place this week.

Natural Resources Wales issued three flood warnings and 17 flood warnings at 9am on Monday morning. They are mainly found in the southwest. Traffic monitors also show flooding in Loughor, near Swansea, and Tenby. A road in Loughor is closed due to flooding and a car stuck in water.

The Met Office says most of the UK will remain unsettled next week. A series of severe weather warnings for rain are expected to be issued on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, before a deep area of ​​low pressure, today called Storm Ciaran, brings strong winds and torrential rain to parts of the south. Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Chris Almond said: “Wind gusts associated with Storm Ciaran are likely to reach 80mph along the south coast of England, with a small risk from some places. Gusts of 90 mph could be seen, and wind gusts could even reach 50 or 60 miles per hour. further inland. This deep low pressure system will also bring heavy rainfall to much of the UK, but the heaviest rainfall is expected to be in southern and western areas, with 20-25mm over a fairly wide area, but potentially up to 40-60mm in high areas. floor. “Continuous heavy rain will fall on already saturated land, with the risk of further consequences such as flooding in areas already struggling to shake off the heavy rain we have seen over the last week.”

Floods close road in Swansea

Traffic monitors show Culfor Road in Loughor, Swansea, is closed in both directions due to flooding.

Pont-Y-Cob Road is closed as far as Brynllwchwr Road and there are reports of a vehicle being pulled from floodwaters.
