In a statement, the Vice Chancellor said: Freddy Mamani Machaca indicated that the government “has taken the decision to sever diplomatic relations with the State of Israel in rejection and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive being carried out in the Gaza Strip.”
The announcement was made by Mamani Machaca, from the Government Building in La Paz, together with the Minister of the Presidency and the Interim Chancellor, Maria Nela Prada.
Bolivia demands “the cessation of attacks on the Palestinian people” and rejects Israel’s “hostile” treatment towards those responsible for the international organizations charged with providing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, the vice chancellor said.
For its part, Prada called for “dialogue and structural solutions” to prevent “a further escalation of the conflict worldwide.”
The interim chancellor called on the “brother countries” and the integration processes in which Bolivia participates to “take collective action” to achieve pacification in the region and “avoid a ‘genocide’.
He also said that Bolivia will send humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and that the Bolivian embassy in the Netherlands will fulfill the simultaneous function of Palestine.
On Monday, Bolivia’s President Luis Arce met with Palestine’s ambassador, Mahmoud Elalwani, and expressed his rejection of the “war crimes in the Gaza Strip” that have killed more than 8,000 people.
