Gaza, the war between Israel and Hamas continues. Attack on refugee camp, terrorist leader killed

Heavy clashes in the Gaza Strip between Israeli forces and Hamas militias, while the Palestinian group denounces a new massacre in attacks carried out against the Jabalia refugee camp, in the north of the enclave. Tanks coming from Tel Aviv crossed the village of Beit Lahia, in the north of the Gaza Strip, and reached Al-Nasr Street, one of Gaza’s main arteries, where intense firefights took place between the IDF and Hamas militiamen. The Gaza Interior Ministry, in turn, reported that Israeli forces have entered northwestern Gaza and are present in Al Karama, a neighborhood north of Gaza City, and on Salah al-Din Street, the Strip’s main highway. . In combined attacks, by land, air and with the support of naval forces, Israel claims to have hit 400 targets in the Strip and to have killed the commander of the Beit Lahiya battalion of the Hamas Northern Brigade, Nassim Abu Ajina, considered responsible for the attacks on 7 October against residents of Kibbutz Erez and Moshav Netiv Ha’ Assara.

But the majority of the offensive launched by Israel continues to consist of aerial bombardment with the aim of weakening enemy defenses and infrastructure. Indiscriminate attacks according to Hamas, which reported a new massacre of civilians in the Jabalia refugee camp, in northern Gaza. The local Ministry of Health, run by Hamas, speaks of dozens of victims and more than 100 injured, but is unable to calculate the definitive number of victims, given that “dozens of people” are still under the rubble of the destroyed buildings. In the attack, Israeli forces claim to have eliminated the commander of the Hamas central battalion in Jabalia, Ibrahim Biari, considered one of those responsible for the October 7 attack, and numerous other militiamen, and to have destroyed several underground tunnels. And IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari once again accused Hamas of intentionally building “terrorist infrastructure under the homes” of civilians.

In another attack, this time against the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the center of the Strip, at least 15 people died. After denouncing the massacres, Hamas once again turned to Arab and Muslim countries asking them to take a “firm stance to stop the massacres committed by Israel” and attack governments that “tolerate the massacres of the Zionist occupier.” Then there is the issue of hostages. The Hamas spokesman said a “certain number” of prisoners “with non-Israeli passports” would be released in the coming days. It could be the only positive news in a sad time.
