Three people died when the roof of a sports center collapsed in Jiamusi city, Heilongjiang province, northeastern China. The disaster occurred in a few seconds at 19.20 local time on Monday evening, while seven young people were playing basketball in the facilities where training was held every day and whose total area was approximately 2 thousand square meters. Three people managed to escape.
4 people remained under the rubble, 1 survived and his condition is stable. According to local authorities, the possible cause of the collapse was snow accumulated on the roof of the building.
The sports center belongs to a company in Huanan County, whose manager was arrested by the police. The cause of the crash is currently being investigated further. Jiamusi Meteorological Observatory issued a red alert for the snowstorm at 17.30 on Monday, warning that the snowstorm would continue until Tuesday morning.
