Israeli troops killed key members of Hamas’ Nukhba force who participated in the October 7 attack in the Jabalia neighborhood in northern Gaza. As specified by the armed forces and the Shin Bet, among those killed is Ahmed Musa, commander of the Islamic Movement’s special unit that directed the attacks on the Zikim military base, Kibbutz Zikim and the military post in Iftah. Field commander Omar Ahandi and Muhammad Kahlot, head of the sniper unit in the north, were also killed.
Meanwhile, Israel also announced that it had taken control of the Hamas stronghold of the Jabalia camp in northern Gaza, at the same time as it was announced that six people were killed in the attack on the Shifa hospital in Gaza. The Israeli army – which in recent hours saw the number of victims in its ranks rise to 36, with the death of a 21-year-old sergeant who worked as a doctor – announced a period of 4 hours to stop fighting to allow the safe evacuation of those civilians. At the same time, Islamic Jihad showed videos of two hostages, a 13-year-old boy and an elderly woman, announcing their release for “humanitarian reasons”.
