US President Joe Biden will meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in the San Francisco area on Wednesday, Washington confirmed.
As reported by the American news agency Reuters, in addition to discussing China-US relations, the agenda will include issues such as the Russian-Ukrainian war, the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, tensions between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea, as well as economic and trade issues.
The talks will also include restoring communications between the two countries’ militaries, although Beijing is expected to be skeptical about this, US officials say.
Biden and Xi Jinping last met in November 2022 on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali. Both politicians subsequently reaffirmed the position of both Washington and Beijing that nuclear war can never happen. In this context, they paid particular attention to Russian actions towards Ukraine.
