Hundreds and thousands of people in London in what is expected to be one of the biggest political marches in UK history.
Police are preparing for hundreds of thousands of people arriving in London for what is expected to be one of the biggest political marches in British history on Saturday, the Palestinian Authority says.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called for “unity” amid tensions over a pro-Palestinian march taking place on the day Britain marks the end of the First World War.
There is concern about the risk of counter-protests, especially around the cenotaph, although the demonstration is not expected to take place near the monument.
Scotland Yard will send almost 2,000 officers to central London for a major police operation over the weekend. Metropolitan Police officers stand guard at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, central London, ahead of planned marches in central London.
On the eve of the massive protest, the Prime Minister appealed to participants to do so “in a respectful and peaceful manner” and to respect the celebration of Armistice Day.
