Attack on the Nord Stream gas pipeline. The name of the Ukrainian officer appeared

Ukrainian soldier Roman Czerwiński is said to have taken part in coordinating the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipeline, the US press reports.

Coordinator The person responsible for the sabotage on Nord Stream was Roman Czerwiński, a 48-year-old Ukrainian colonel who served in the special forces – writes The Washington Post, citing Ukrainian and European officials and people familiar with the details of the operation.

According to them, Czerwiński led a group of six people who committed sabotage. She chartered a sailboat based on false information and used deep-sea diving equipment to plant explosives on gas pipelines.

At the same time, according to sources, Czerwiński did not organize the operation himself or participate in its planning, but carried out the orders of senior officers who, as “WaPo” writes, ultimately reported to the commander-in-chief of the operation. Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny.

Roman Czerwiński pleads not guilty

Czerwiński is currently in pre-trial detention in Kiev on charges of exceeding his powers. According to investigators, without the permission of the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate, the colonel tried to carry out an operation aimed at luring a Russian pilot to Ukraine.

However, the operation failed because information about the deployment of personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at Kanatovo airport was leaked. As a result of the Russian attack on the airfield, the unit commander was killed, 17 soldiers were injured, two fighters were destroyed and the runway was damaged.

Czerwiński, through his lawyer, provided a statement to American journalists denying any role in the attack on the gas pipelines, arguing that linking him to the case amounts to spreading Russian propaganda.

Attack on Nord Stream. Zelensky knew nothing?

The Washington Post points out that Czerwiński’s alleged role in the operation is the strongest evidence yet of the involvement of the leadership of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the SBU in the Nord Stream explosions.

The newspaper estimates that Czerwiński’s participation in sabotage reflects internal rivalry within the Ukrainian leadership, where intelligence and military structures are often in conflict with the political leadership.

The newspaper writes, citing American intelligence data, that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was not aware of the attack on gas pipelines. “Everyone who took part in the planning and execution of the operation reported directly to Zaluzhny, so Zelensky knew nothing about it,” reads an excerpt from the CIA report cited by the newspaper.
