Video: This is the first albino puma born in captivity in Nicaragua

Itzae can now be admired by visitors in that animal shelter in the Nicaraguan city of Juigalpadepartment of Chontales, in the center of the Central American country, after spending just over three months in total isolation to protect their health.

“It is in good condition and that is why it was decided that today it would be opened to the public (…) so that all families can experience this wonder of nature”The chairman of the zoo’s board of directors, Marlon Vargas, told EFE.

The feline Itzae, who was born on July 20, is part of a litter of two more cubs, all female and named Itzel and Itziar, who still remain with the puma mother.

Itzae was the only one of the three babies born albino, a genetic condition that makes it harder for them to survive, although experts say she is in good health so far.

Albinism is a genetic condition that causes the body to produce little or no melanin, causing a partial or complete absence of pigmentation in the eyes, skin and hair.

According to the authorities of that animal center, located 128 kilometers from Managua, The three puppies enjoy excellent health, as confirmed by successive studies.

“She and the other two pumitas that are part of the litter recently underwent a full medical check-up. The health status is very good,” Vargas said.

However, he stated that the one that needs the most care is the albino puma, which will soon be weaned, although it is already provided with meat and supplements for better development.

For visitors, The zoo has established rules to be followed to observe the unique specimen in the country, Do not use photographic flash, shout, make loud noises or push the barrier among them.
