Apparently, millions of us still use incredibly simple code that is very vulnerable to hackers. A new study from the NordPass team found that some popular passwords can be cracked in less than a second because they are so easy.

Ridiculously simple codes like “123456” are still used very frequently; This password is the most common password in the world, including the UK. It is said that almost a third (31%) of the world’s most popular passwords consist of just strings of numbers like “123456789”, “12345”, “000000” and others. Even the word “password” remains extremely popular, despite warnings last year that it is often misused and can put accounts at risk of attack by cybercriminals.

Football teams are also often used as passwords along with player names. The British chose codes such as “Liverpool”, “Arsenal”, “Chelsea” and “Rangers”. All of this is easy for hackers to understand.

Experts say passwords created from dictionary words are incredibly easy to crack, but Brits often choose passwords related to animals or mythical creatures like “monkey” or “dragon”. Some don’t even try to change the default password, and “admin” is included in this year’s global list of popular codes.
