Joint initiative between the US and Ukraine. “This is our goal”

A joint US-Ukraine conference will be held in Washington in December. It is about the development of the defense industry.

On December 6 and 7, a two-day Ukrainian-American conference on the development of the defense industry will be held in Washington, the capital of the United States.

The details were provided by White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson. She said the conference will be attended by representatives of the US and Ukrainian defense industries and governments. Their goal is to “analyze and explore the possibilities of co-production and other industrial cooperation in Ukraine.”

– The conference is part of the US government’s efforts to significantly increase weapons production in support of Ukraine’s fight for freedom and security, the White House official added. This is about Russia’s large-scale aggression against Ukraine, which has been going on since February 24, 2022.

Broad representation of both countries

Watson estimated that the talks would involve representatives from the National Security Council, the Commerce Department, the Pentagon and the U.S. Department of State, as well as the Ukrainian Offices of the President, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Strategic Industries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Rustem Umerov, head of the Ministry of Defense, noted that the conference will be called “DFNC1: US Edition” and will be a continuation of the Defense Industry Forum, which took place in Kiev at the end of September. President Volodymyr Zelensky then announced the creation of the Defense Industry Alliance. This event was attended by representatives from more than 250 companies from 30 different countries in Europe, North America and Asia.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced after the forum that it had ushered in a “new era” for the Ukrainian defense industry. In November he called for closer cooperation between the defense industries of EU member states and countries seeking to become EU members, including: Ukraine.
