Javier Milei, the Argentine presidential candidate, was booed on Friday evening after the audience became aware of his presence during a performance of the opera “Madame Butterfly” at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
The candidate was accompanied by his wife Fátima Florez and was booed during the ‘Never Again’ break for denying the crimes of the military dictatorship.
“You are the dictatorship”
“Milei, nonsense, you are the dictatorship,” it started to sound almost like a whisper and then it got louder.
Some musicians from the orchestra joined the choir and even sang a few bars of the Peronist march, reports the newspaper “Página 12”.
Some of the public also experienced lukewarm support for Milei and finally the work could continue.
Milei posted several videos and messages on her account on X, formerly Twitter, saying it was a minority that was booing the candidate. (European press)
