A scandal occurred during the funeral of an LGBT activist and his partner in the cathedral of the Mexican city of Aguascalientes. Archbishop Gustavo Rodríguez Vega spoke.

On the morning of November 14, the funeral of Judge Jesús Ociel Baena Saucedo and his partner, who were found dead in Baena Saucedo’s house, took place in the Cathedral of Aguascalientes. Their bodies showed signs of violence.

Jesúsa Ociel Baena Saucedo was born a woman. He described himself as a non-binary person. In May, he became the first person in Mexico to receive a “non-binary” passport – a document introduced by the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Baena Saucedo caused a scandal when he posted a photo of himself dressed as the Virgin Mary on social media on October 31.
