Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) reported this to three doctors, two of whom were NGO workers who were killed during an attack on Al-Awda hospital in Yabalia, a town in northern Fita, which was surrounded on Tuesday by the Israeli army.
“At Doctors Without Borders, we are completely shocked by the killing of three doctors “following an attack on Al-Awda Hospital, one of the last operational hospitals in the north of the Gaza Strip.”
The NGO said in a statement that the dead included Mahmoud Abu Nujaila and Ahmad al Sahar, two doctors who worked for Doctors Without Borders, while Dr Ziad al Tatari was an employee of Al-Awda Hospital.
“We condemn this attack in the strongest terms and reiterate our call to respect and protect medical facilities, staff and patients.”
Doctors Without Borders recalled that “more than 200 patients” are still stuck in hospital and “are in urgent need of evacuation”.
Doctors Without Borders reiterates its call on Israel to stop shooting into Gaza
“Attacks on medical facilities constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which has unfortunately occurred systematically in recent weeks.”
Once again, MSF called on Israel to call for an immediate ceasefire and lift the siege on Gaza.
“MSF has been working in Al Awda since 2018, performing reconstructive surgeries on adults and trauma surgeries on girls and boys. We honor the courage of our colleagues and will always remember them.”
Dozens of Palestinians working or hospitalized at two hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip died this Tuesday after bombings by the Israeli army, the Gaza Health Ministry, controlled by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, said.
According to this department, an Israeli bomb attack yesterday, Monday, left “dozens dead” in the Indonesian hospital in the city of Bait Lahia. At least 12 people have been killed in Israeli attacks, while Al Awda reports “dozens of dead and injured, including patients and medical staff.”
Since the war began more than a month and a half ago, Israel has justified its attacks on schools, mosques, markets and hospitals in Gaza by claiming that Hamas is using civilian structures for war activities, although it has not proven this. (With information from EFE)
