The vehicle that exploded on a US-Canadian border bridge near Niagara Falls was a car bomb, Fox News and CNN report.
The incident took place on the American side, in New York state, killing at least two people, according to local press.
The Niagara Gazette reports that two people were killed and a U.S. border patrol agent was injured. Additionally, ABC says there are “multiple victims.”
Niagara Gazette points out that the vehicle was heading towards the border bridge when it accelerated instead of braking, causing a fence separating the two directions to collapse, and the explosion was subsequently felt.
The Rainbow Bridge is now closed in both directions. This tourist area traditionally sees a lot of car traffic during the Thanksgiving weekend, which is celebrated tomorrow.
