A life that revolves around sports and the inability to control disease. Trail running champion Swedish athlete Emilia Brangefalt committed suicide when she was only 21 years old. He passed away on November 13, but the news was published in the past hours. She wrote on social media: “My body shut down.”
Emilia Brangefalt won the bronze medal in the short track at the 2022 World Championships held in Thailand, and came fifth at the World Championships held in Innsbruck this year. But his body betrayed him: heart problems – his heart rate was too high to allow him to exert any effort, even at rest – forced him to stop. This is an unacceptable situation for someone who has made sports his reason for living.
Last November 4, he made a long post on Instagram as a farewell. He detailed his problem and also admitted that he could not walk: “Since the end of July, my body has shut down. Just walking tires me now. I went to the hospital, to the doctor at least twenty times, every blood test, every electrocardiogram showed perfect results, but for the last few months I have only “Even though I give it love, my body continues to feel stressed. I’m so sad because running and training mean a lot. But it’s hard to live a normal life anymore. I’ve spent more time in bed than standing for the past month.”
