A massive search for a woman missing from her Carmarthenshire home resumed on Tuesday, November 28, police confirmed. The search for Angharad, 55, who lives in the Nantgaredig and Pontaghoti area, about six miles from Carmarthen, began on Sunday when he was reported missing.

Work was suspended on Sunday night due to lack of lighting and resumed on Monday morning, when a large presence of emergency and search teams was observed in the area. Crews from Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Service, crews from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, including lifeboats, and police officers from Dyfed Powys were involved in the search, which focused around the River Coty in the Pontargotty area, extending head north to Llanfynydd. Search teams were seen walking along the river bank and in the water, while a police helicopter also flew over the area and at one point on Monday landed in a field overlooking the River Coty, on a country road close to the A40 in Pontargot. The searches were suspended on Monday night and resumed on Tuesday morning. Police released a photo and description of Angharad and asked the public to contact them if they had any information that could help them in the ongoing search.

Angharad, 55, disappeared on the afternoon of Sunday, November 26th.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed Powys Police said: “We are looking for a woman believed to be missing. Angharad, 55, was reported missing from her home in the Nantgaredig area yesterday afternoon. She is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, of medium build and brown hair. It is believed he was wearing jeans, a blue sweater and pink wellies.

“Her family and police are extremely concerned about her whereabouts and she is considered a high-risk missing person. A number of investigations are being carried out, including searches in and along the river and around Nantgaredig. Police are co-ordinating an inter-agency search and investigation operation involving the Mountain Rescue Team and Mid and West Wales Fire Rescue Service. The National Police Air Service helicopter also searched the area today.

“The public can expect an increased police presence in the area as the search continues. We thank the community for their patience and respectfully ask people not to visit the area after dark as the terrain is difficult. Anyone who has seen Angharad, or anyone with information that could help with the search, should report it to Dyfed-Powys Police online, by email at [email protected] or by calling 101″.
