Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack on Jerusalem. Palestinian terrorists said two gunmen from the group launched the attack at a bus stop. In a message, Hamas declares that “the operation” is a “natural response to the unprecedented crimes committed by the occupation”, with clear accusations against Israel for the operations in the Gaza Strip, which began after the group’s terrible attack in the country on October 7 , and also – according to Al-Jazeera – for the treatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
Hamas also called for an “escalation of resistance” following the attack on Jerusalem, which left three people dead. The names of the attackers are also published: brothers Murad (38 years old) and Ibrahim (30 years old) Nemer, from Sur Baher, in East Jerusalem, defined as “martyrs of jihad”. According to Israeli police, two soldiers released from service and an armed civilian returned fire, killing the two armed men, who – according to the Shin Bet – had previously been arrested for terrorist activities (Murad was in prison from 2010 to 2020 for planning attacks and Ibrahim in 2014 for unspecified crimes). And there is already someone calling for Israel to resume the attack against the terrorists who apparently broke the truce.
