More hostages released. Israel: Hamas fired a rocket

Israel and Hamas agreed on Friday to extend the ceasefire for another day, Egyptian officials said. At the same time there are reports of shelling.

The information was reported by the American Wall Street Journal, citing Egyptian officials involved in the case. This marks the beginning of the eighth day of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The deal includes the release of additional Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, WSJ reported, citing Egyptian officials. There has been no official confirmation of this information from Israel and Hamas yet.

However, it is known that six hostages released by the Palestinian side on Thursday evening have already reached Israel, which was confirmed by local forces. The freedmen were sent to hospitals where they will undergo medical examinations and meet their families.

Reuters reported that Hamas released eight hostages on Thursday. In turn, the Israeli Prison Service announced on Thursday night that it had released thirty Palestinians from Israeli prisons.

Armistice extended?

On Thursday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the ceasefire would continue and that mediators would try to secure the release of more hostages held by Hamas militants in exchange for the release of an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners.

Mutual accusations of Israel and Hamas

An IDF spokesman said one rocket was fired into Israel overnight but was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.

On Tuesday, Israel and Hamas accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli army reported that several soldiers from units in the Gaza Strip suffered minor injuries as a result of three explosions and shootings in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

One of the spokespersons for Hamas’s military branch said the “battle” took place after Israeli forces violated the terms of the ceasefire.

However, the incidents did not break the ceasefire. Humanitarian aid is now being delivered to the Gaza Strip devastated by Israeli forces, and the third countries involved are calling for time to find a solution to the conflict without military action.
