Middle East, Erdogan’s proposal shocks everyone: “We will punish the butchers of Gaza”

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, once again launched a very harsh condemnation against the Israeli government and army for the “massacre” they are committing against the population of Gaza, before stating that he does not consider the Islamic movement Hamas, to front of the enclave, as a terrorist group and which even considers the organization an essential interlocutor for a possible peace solution in the region. “The Israelis, who were victims of genocide, have now become the killers of their ancestors,” Erdogan said before speaking about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “The massacre committed by his administration in Gaza remained a black stain in history and the countries that gave him their unconditional support were also stained,” he said in statements carried by Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency. Erdogan said he hopes the International Criminal Court will prosecute “these “butchers” from Gaza, who were caught red-handed” and apply “the necessary punishments against them, especially against Netanyahu”.

The Turkish president once again offered himself as a possible mediator for a peace agreement for both Gaza and the entire region, but stressed that Hamas must be part of these talks. “The issue of Gaza cannot be discussed without a two-state solution”, declared Erdogan regarding the historical roadmap that foresees the coexistence of a Palestinian State and an Israeli State, before indicating, however, that “the exclusion of the Hamas” of this plan “is not a realistic scenario. I continue in the same position as always – he stressed – I don’t care what others say: I cannot accept Hamas as a terrorist organization”.
