Unfortunately, the sad announcement came: DJ Jonathan Samerano passed away. The young man, originally from Tel Aviv, was kidnapped by Hamas militia last October 7: the 21-year-old was attending a party near Re’im on the morning of the attack, then fled to nearby Kibbutz Be’eri. He was injured and kidnapped. The news of Samerano’s death was also confirmed by Israeli officials who informed the family. Jonathan is survived by his two parents, Kobi and Ayelet, and his brother Yair.
DJ Jonathan Samerano, kidnapped by Hamas, dies
According to the reconstruction reported in the local media, the 21-year-old young man was playing at the Re’im music festival on the day of the Hamas attack: When the militia arrived, he fled with other young people attending the festival. You were there in Rave, seeking refuge in the nearby Kibbutz Well. There he was allegedly wounded and some Hamas members joined him and took him prisoner. In recent weeks, Jonathan’s friends and family have been hoping to return home: last November 18, they took to the streets with banners, photos and flags, loudly calling for his release.
But now, almost two months after the Hamas attack that killed nearly 350 people, the young DJ’s name has been added to the list of victims. The 21-year-old young man, who was with three friends that morning, informed his mother that he was about to return home, but then all traces of him disappeared. Israeli soldiers immediately found the bodies of their friends, but not Jonathan’s body. “Jonathan was a magical child surrounded by friends; a DJ who only wanted to make music, grow up, be happy and travel. He had many dreams,” explained family members in the Times of Israel. A funeral ceremony will be held for the 21-year-old young man, after which the family will begin shiva, a 7-day mourning period.
