Israel surrounds the home of the Hamas leader. USA: “No to ceasefire”

The Israel Defense Forces surrounded the home of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar with tanks in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. This was stated by the broadcaster Channel 7. Sinwar, also known as “the butcher of Khan Yunis”, is considered the mastermind of the attacks launched by Hamas on October 7 against Israel. The al-Arabiya broadcaster specified that Sinwar’s house has been surrounded for hours, but it is not clear whether the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip is inside. Citing Palestinian sources, the Egyptian portal Al Watan claims that Sinwar is not at home. Tel Aviv, for its part, has repeatedly stated that Sinwar “is a dead man walking.”

The United States, at this time, has declared that it is not in favor of a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The statement was made by the US National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator, John Kirby, during a press conference. “A permanent ceasefire would allow Hamas to regroup and plan new attacks against Israel: instead, we support specific, localized humanitarian pauses to free hostages and deliver aid,” he explained. “We have signs that Israel is trying to remove Palestinian civilians, those that Hamas shamefully uses as shields. President Joe Biden is insisting on the importance of humanitarian assistance continuing to reach Gaza. We know there are more than 1 million displaced people in desperate need of help,” concluded Kirby.
