The Polish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement on Russian cyber attacks targeting election processes in Britain.
“Poland receives with great concern the information provided by the United Kingdom about Russian cyber attacks targeting democratic institutions and electoral processes in the country,” we read in a statement published on Thursday.
“Poland declares its full solidarity with Great Britain. Our position on this issue is set out in the European Union’s statement. According to the statement, the hacking activities were carried out by the Star Blizzard group, which according to the National Cyber Security Center (NSCS) is “almost certainly” controlled by Center 18 – an FSB unit identified as responsible for a number of cyber espionage operations targeting on Great Britain.
In connection with the announced attack, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the British Foreign Office. London also imposed sanctions on two Star Blizzard members.
