Putin is running again (for the fifth time) to lead Russia

Vladimir Putin announced that he is running again for a fifth consecutive term in the Kremlin in the March 2024 elections. With just over three months until the vote, scheduled for March 17, Putin decided to step forward. “I had different thoughts about this,” he said. “But today I understand that there is no other choice, so I will run for president of Russia.”

An announcement made on Heroes of the Fatherland Day at the invitation of a high-ranking pro-Russian fighter from Donbass, the father of a fallen soldier. If reapproved, it would remain under Russian command until at least 2030 (from 2000). According to polls, Putin’s approval rating is over 80 percent.

Meanwhile, there is concern for the life of Alexey Navalny, the Russian President’s number one rival and who has been missing for three days. Her spokeswoman, Kira Yarmysh, says she does not know his whereabouts and explains that his lawyers “were not allowed into the prison for three days.” And this happened after Navalny “suffered a serious health problem last week.”
