Youtuber who crashed his plane because of ‘views’ is sentenced to six months in prison | Video

YouTuber and former Olympian Trevor Jacob was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to lying in a federal investigation.

The 30-year-old pilot and parachutist was involved in a plane crash that occurred in November 2021, when the small plane he was traveling in crashed 35 minutes after takeoff in California’s Los Padres National Forest.

The video of what happened was shared by Jacob on his channel. YouTube just a month later.

The images show that the aircraft is equipped with cameras at several points. Once in the air, the man opens the door and jumps out, causing the plane to spiral out of control.

Since Trevor Jacob boarded the ship, he already had his parachute on and had a selfie stick in his hand to continue recording as he fell, raising suspicions that it was the YouTuber who never planned the incident to prevent.

The man came ashore, returned to the scene by helicopter and removed the remains. To do so, he had to plead guilty to one count of destruction and concealment with intent to obstruct a federal investigation.

Jacob lied to authorities when he filed a plane crash report that showed the plane had suffered a total loss of power, authorities said.

He also lied to a Federal Aviation Administration safety inspector when he said the engine stopped and he jumped because he couldn’t find a safe place to land.

In the video, the former Olympian says:

Thank God. Thank you universe. Thank you, higher power, for taking care of me.

According to NBC News, Jacob said in a statement that “this experience was humbling.”

“I learned more about myself than I had in my entire previous life combined,” he explained.

I have learned from my mistakes and hope to be a contributing member of society and a mentor to young people. …I look forward to continuing my positive development as a person during my six-month sentence.
