Ukraine: more than 400 cities and towns without electricity

455 cities and towns in Ukraine are without electricity due to weather conditions, ongoing hostilities and technical disruptions.

This information is provided by the Ministry of Energy. Twenty-six towns in Donetsk Oblast have no electricity due to Russian attacks. Repair brigades managed to restore electricity to 17 settlements that had previously suffered power outages. A total of 121 towns in Donetsk Oblast have no electricity, 14 of which have partial interruptions in electricity supply.

Electricity was cut in 63 cities and towns in Zaporizhia Oblast due to weather conditions, and power was recently restored in 75 cities. 20 settlements have no electricity due to previous problems, and 63 have suffered power cuts due to hostilities.

There is also no electricity in 60 towns in Sumy and Chernihiv Oblasts, of which 21 have only partial outages.

Places closed off from gas

A total of 165 households that lost electricity due to Russian attacks have had their electricity restored, but 16,217 households still do not have access to it. Due to the fighting in the area, some households in Kupiańsko were also disconnected from the gas network. Kharkiv in turn had the gas returned to 23 households.

In Kherson, 3,358 households lost electricity as a result of the war. Due to Russian attacks, forty-five settlements in Kherson Oblast are without electricity.

Fifteen cities in the Dnipropetrovsk region have no electricity due to weather conditions.

The Energy Ministry said Ukraine’s energy system is stable and under control. There are no planned power outages.

On December 9, Ukraine was forced to obtain emergency aid with a capacity of 300 MW from Romania and Poland for the third time since the beginning of winter due to the shortage in the energy system.
